Dear Parents, Students and Community Members;
Glenview is a Tribes community of approximately 350 students. Our community of learners focus on Literacy, Numeracy and Safety and Well-being.
What is a Tribes School?
Tribes is a philosophy that is based on Four Agreements. Staff model the philosophy that is promoted through the “Tribes” Agreements which are:
- 1) Mutual Respect
- 2) Active Listening
- 3) No Put Downs and Showing Appreciation
- 4) Right to Pass
Students and teachers always affirm the value and uniqueness of each person and recognize and appreciate individual and cultural differences through Mutual Respect. We also pay close attention to one another’s expression of ideas, opinions and feelings; to check for understanding and to let others know that they have been heard through Attentive Listening. By treating others kindly and stating appreciation for unique qualities, avoiding negative remarks, name-calling hurtful gestures or behaviours, students are taught to Show Appreciation and to not demonstrate Put Downs. Students have the right to choose when and to what extent one will participate in a group activity and to observe quietly if not participating actively and to choose whether to offer observations later to a group when asked to do so through the agreement, Right To Pass.
At Glenview, we understand the importance of helping each child reach their highest potential. Our goal is to help all students achieve this by providing them with a high-quality differentiated instruction approach to education. At Glenview, we are committed to every child.
The staff at Glenview take pride in their ability to offer students a wide array of activities over each day that foster fitness, involvement, enjoyment and life long skill attainment within the context of the Ministry curriculum. These programs are planned in part with support from parents on our School Council so that the talents and interests of all our community members can be captured to benefit your children. The various clubs, choirs, councils and sports that are offered should be sufficiently divers to attract the interest and participation of all students.
We also encourage our parents to participate in their child’s education , to support the educational endeavours of your child(ren) and to help foster an attitude that recognizes and values the importance of a well-rounded education.
We look forward to working together through an open communication concept.
Sincerely,
Deborah Renton
Principal
